Chapter 1 - The 1700's

Technology became apparent in our society in the early 18th century, and in about 1712 as of the invention of the steam engine, an engine that used steam to be powered which created electricity. The steam engine was also one of the main causes of the beginning of the industrial revolution. Although steam engines are no longer in use, they were one of the largest advancements for its time.

Not very long after, in 1757, John Campbell created the sextant. The sextant was a tool used by sailors. By Measuring the angular distance between 2 objects, the sextant will measure the general location of the sailor. This was useful for sailors because it made it less likely for them to get lost while traveling.
